GLEN EDEN SCHOOL

The Glen Eden School District was established from part of Liberty and Blue Lakes School Districts on April 8, 1890.

The first year the Glen Eden School was held in a private house, at that time the Coates place, which became the Wattenburger place. The next year the schoolhouse was built near the north line of Section 29 and on the east side of the Scotts Valley Road. It was also used around 1894 forward for a Literary Society and as headquarters for the Farmers Alliance.

The school was suspended August 9, 1916; reopened August 8, 1917; Suspended July 26, 1948 and reopened July 5, 1949. The people voted to consolidate and the pupils went to Lakeport Union Elementary School. The land reverted to the original ranches.

The first school was taught by Katie Fitzsimons. Miss Woodward taught about 1900. The last teacher was Clarita Bannister (Butler)
